Social Enterprise Coalition (Case Study - The Gateway Project)
 The Gateway Project is set to be the UK's first community owned eco-service station and will provide a welcome stop to motorway drivers as well as a string of benefits to local communities. A motorway in Gloucestershire may be an unlikely place to find a fledgling social enterprise, but from 2008 drivers on the M5 will be able to pull over for both a healthy, locally-sourced snack, and the knowledge they are helping to regenerate the local community. Director Mark Gale says: "As a social enterprise, we want to promote local food and culture and provide local employment through a beacon of eco design. "And over and above that, through our social enterprise model, we will distribute our profits to disadvantaged communities neighbouring the M5 motorway." The border between Stroud and Gloucester on the M5 is a prime candidate for a new service station as up to 90,000 vehicles travel along that stretch every day and the gap between service stations exceeds the maximum recommended interval. The Gateway Project is the brainchild of the Gloucestershire Neighbourhoods Project Network (GNPN), a co-operative of 10 urban and rural neighbourhood charities spread throughout the county. Its central aim is to drive forward regeneration and development across Gloucestershire, an area hit hard by the Foot and Mouth outbreak. GNPN hopes the service station will create up to 150 sustainable new jobs and provide long-term funding for GNPN's other charitable work. The service station will also house a farm shop selling local produce from surrounding farms. The project was kick started by feasibility funding provided through the European Social Fund's Equal Community Initiative in the Spring of 2005.

Course Structure The following is the Course Structure for all of our Home Study courses: - Each course is divided into six units– each with a different theme. - A unit will be sent to you by post, monthly– from the date you join the course unless requested otherwise. - Each unit comprises reading material, together with two written assignments. - If possible, all assignments to be typed and have a minimum of two hundred and fifty words. - The assignments are straight forward & relate directly to the reading material.
