Bill Gates - Simple English Wikipedia, the free encyclopediaBill Gates From the Simple English Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia that anyone can change Jump to: navigation , search Bill Gates William Henry Gates III (born October 28 , 1955 ), commonly known as Bill Gates , is the co-founder and Chief of Microsoft . He was the richest person in the world for many years, and still is today. When Bill was 13 he went to Lakeside School, probably the best secondary school in Seattle. He left Harvard University to make software . Bill Gates saw an opportunity to transform the personal computer , which used to be a hard-to-use and expensive device. He saw that computers could be made less expensive and more easy to use. He recently decided to quit from his job at Microsoft, and is doing more charity work with his wife, Melinda. Many people are disappointed in the decision he's making about leaving microsoft. Bill Gates' philanthropy projects have included vaccination of children in sub- Saharan Africa , scholarship programs in the United States , and leadership to help organize other billionaires to redistribute their wealth. He likes to give money and support to human rights, education and technological innovation.

'Discover' a great scholarship for high school juniors | Education & Opportunity
'Discover' a great scholarship for high school juniors | Education & OpportunityHome » blogs » Ben Kaplan's blog 'Discover' a great scholarship for high school juniors The first scholarship I ever won, an award called the Discover Card Tribute Awards , is a wonderful program for high school juniors. With a January 31 application deadline, now is a great time to begin work on your Discover Card scholarship application. The program is designed for students who have pursued involvement in leadership and community activities and who have also overcome a major life obstacle, roadblock, or challenge. You need a 2.75 GPA to apply, but once you meet that minimum bar, they don't consider your grades at all. (Put another way, it doesn't matter if you have a 2.8 or 3.9 GPA. They won't consider your grades as long as you have at least a 2.75.) And did somebody say "big money?" The program awards ten $25,000 national scholarships, plus three hundred $2,500 scholarships on the state level. To download the application for this scholarship, see the Discover Card website . For insider secrets about how to win the Discover Card scholarship (based on interviews with numerous winners and judges), see my special Scholarship Starter Kit CD (available at www.ScholarshipCoach.com ).
